| Why study languages? |

We could say that learning languages is a strategy game, in which many factors interact and are related to other human beings, their environment, the world and the universe. If we think about ourselves we can narrow down this cobweb that is in constant transformation. What criteria can we follow to mark the limits in this process?
For many years the school has requested the opinion of students to find out the main reasons that make them decide to study a language and statistically these were their main interests. These are:
The word foreigner is recurrent. We can find many thoughts and sayings referring to language and the need to study it. We can consider this:
We can also leave ourselves out and look at the communities we belong to: kinship, social, national, whatever be the words and concepts that we use, the authors, current philosophies and chosen ideologies, we find that they all appeal to basic ideas that refer to feeling, to knowledge and to how they create, transmit, and socialize.
The methodological tendencies in language learning are just that, trends.
We just need to stop and think and evaluate our qualities, skills and attitudes and choose the way best suited to our expectations, interests and means.
Like a chess game, each decision has its effects. Logic wit and our frame of mind, have much to say in any communication process. |
